A Walk in the Park – Olivia’s Senior Photoshoot

Three different looks in just ONE location. How did she do it?

I met up with Olivia the summer before her senior year. We had a great photoshoot at the park just down the street from her home. It was a place she and her friends meet up regularly, so it had extra special meaning to her.

Within just one park, there was a grove of redwoods, bridges and water, play structures and benches. With a couple outfit changes, we were able to get three different looks in one location. It was literally a walk in the park.

The summer before senior year of high school is one of the most exciting times in the teenage years. You’re about to be top dog of school social ladder. You also know you’re doing everything for the last time, so it’s also bitter sweet.

It’s also the best time to do a senior portrait session.

Here are some of my favorite shots from Olivia’s senior portrait session along with her thoughts on various topics I asked her about.

What was the highlight of your summer and what did you do? The highlight of my summer were the beach trips with my friends! Lots of music, waves, and suntanning.

What are you looking forward most to senior year? I’m looking forward to the unpredictability of it all. Lots of things are going to happen very quickly and I’m excited for all of the new things in store for me!

What is your favorite memory or something you accomplished that you’re proud of from your high school years? My favorite memory from high school is Halloween of sophomore year. I wore a bald cap to school!!

What is something you wish you knew while you were younger in middle school or early high school that you know now? Nothing lasts forever! So make the most out of both the good and bad moments.

When you’re not in school or doing school work, what are things you like to do outside of school? I like to paint, play guitar, and drive around with friends.

What do you think is something high schoolers are too overly focused on or easily distracted by these days? I think people are too distracted by comparison, especially when planning for college and beyond. Pursue what makes you happy.

Who is an influential person in your life and why? My sister! She both pushes me towards my goals and keeps me grounded, and as my best friend she just makes everything better.

What are your hopes for after high school? I hope to be happy, surround myself with loved ones, and keep on creating art in whatever way makes sense for me.

What’s one of the biggest fads/trends that you’ll remember from your high school years? I’ll always remember baggy jeans. Peak comfort.

As you get ready go to college, what are some favorite memories you have with your family? Boardgames and movie nights. I always end the night laughing and full of popcorn no matter what.

What was one of your favorite images from our photoshoot and what did you like about it? I really liked the candidly unposed, mid-action photographs. They felt very real and true to myself in the moment.

How did you feel about the photoshoot coming into it and did that change as the photoshoot progressed? I felt awesome the whole time! Trying out poses and locations were fun, and it was nice to walk, chat, and take pictures. I left feeling really self-confident and excited for the results!
